Our Choices for County Commissioners
Our Choices for County Commissioners
On May 16, Westmoreland County Republican voters will select two candidates for the November election for County Commissioners. Of the five candidates, Sean Kertes and Doug Chew are running for re-election. They have done an excellent job and deserve to be re-elected. As a voter, I ask myself whether Westmoreland County has continued to be a great place to live – in terms of crime, taxes, neighborhoods and housing, business development, entertainment, parks and recreation, overall quality of life? Is Westmoreland County attracting high quality businesses and people? My answer is a resounding YES!
As a young professional, Sean Kertes was appointed Chief of Staff by Board of Commissioners Chair Charles Anderson. That experience provided him with an excellent understanding of County government, and he was the obvious choice for the position to succeed Anderson as Commissioner and Board Chair. Doug Chew, a Biochemical Researcher and Faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh has done a great job in transitioning to the position of County Commissioner after his election to that office, and he now serves as Vice Chair.
Together, Kertes and Chew have advanced Westmoreland County, improving the lives of all of us.; children get a quality, wholesome education, job training facilities are available for the job opportunities of today and tomorrow, and the County has excellent accommodations and health care operations for seniors. Thanks to the leadership of Sean Kertes and Doug Chew, Westmoreland is a great place to live, and it’s getting ever better. They’ve earned our vote.
