In response to George Curry’s letter, July 12. Mr. Curry, the real joke is that somebody wants to pin the rampant inflation our people are experiencing on Trump. Biden, through executive order, restricted nearly every aspect of the oil industry. Result: a 50% increase in gasoline and diesel from the day he took office to a week before the Ukraine invasion and the 9.1% inflation over the past year!
You say taxes need to be raised. For $1.9 trillion in the American Rescue Plan (not one Republican vote)? Student loan forgiveness? Mr. Curry, who promises everything for nothing?
Big Government Socialists do.
You say: ‘A lot of companies pay hardly any taxes’!? ’Most of the rich don’t pay much in taxes now’!? Wow, wonderful research! Who pays for that $4 trillion budget? That’s $12 million per capita.
I’ve processed quarterly tax payments; the multitude of five- and six-digit payments that come through is shocking.
Mismanagement—that’s why there is a deficit. Mayors celebrating ‘sanctuary’ city status; endorsement of ‘the future of the Liberal World Order’—that’s why there is a deficit.
Stop spewing media propaganda and do some research. The 11-point plan to downsize the federal government does not cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid.
It does require them to be ‘financially solvent’—oh, wait, that would be the opposite of mismanagement! That would be . . . responsible!
I welcome downsizing the government.
Our current choices:
Big Government Socialism or Free Market Capitalism!

Make America great again? That’s a joke. People believe that garbage. Not one politician seems to want to do anything about our national debt. President Joe Biden is raising interest rates to lower President Donald Trump’s inflation. Taxes need to be raised to pay for government operation and to lower debt. But everybody wants everything for nothing.
I predict Republicans will be running the show with a majority in both houses. Trump will be the next president because people think he actually can “save” America. His campaign will be, “When I was president, my economy and stock market were the greatest.”
We have the greatest national debt, an inverted yield curve on treasuries and are on the verge of having our currency replaced as the world currency.
Trump’s tax breaks for the very rich are adding to our national debt. A lot of companies pay hardly any taxes. So who will get their taxes raised? Most of the rich don’t pay much in taxes now. Cut government services? Republicans already want to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Trump will probably lower interest rates, and inflation will go through the roof. People will pay for inflation or pay more for servicing our national debt.
Trump can make people feel better with his lies. Who cares?
